First Road Bike Ride of The Season

Sunday was absolutely beautiful in Southeast Michigan.  I couldn’t help but get my bicycle out for a ride.  I ended up covering 40 miles on the Edward Hines Parkway.  I started at one of the parking areas near Outer Drive and made my way out past Northville, turning around near Maybury State Park.  I’m really …

Ice Fishing Schlatter Lake, Copper Harbor, Michigan

100_0055.jpg

Winter in the U.P. brings upon the season of ice fishing, among many other winter sports.  We headed out a couple days after Christmas for a drive into the Keweenaw back country to find some frozen lakes.  I have fished Schlatter Lake a couple of times in the summer, catching Perch and Northern Pike.  The …

Rebuilding

Welcome to my blog.  I’m in the process of rebuilding due to some technical difficulties.  Since we’re in the camping off season, I figured I would change the website layout and do things a little bit different.  That being said, I will be posting up all the old blog entries and pages from the old …

Winter Scenic Driving In The Keweenaw Peninsula, Copper Harbor, Michigan

100_0055.jpg

It’s rare that you can make it out to the tip of the Keweenaw by truck versus snowmobile at this time of the year, but we were able to make the drive this week.  Here are a few pictures from the drive; I will post up a couple of videos soon as well.  We stopped …

We spent Thanksgiving Week camping at Cloudland Canyon State Park in Northwest Georgia.  The leaves are already off the trees by this time of the year but the views are still spectacular.  Here is a video I compiled from from the overlooks on the West Rim Trail.

Home From Our Thanksgiving Camping Trip

Deer walking around the camp, Turkey and fresh bread over a fire, waterfalls, canyons and caves; what a fantastic Thanksgiving camping trip.  I will post up a full trip report and reviews as I pull things together from the trip, but I wanted to share a few quick pictures and details of the trip. We …

Lake Superior Video and Pictures – Michigan’s UP

DSC_0360.jpg

Here are some pictures and a video of Lake Superior, from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula shoreline, taken a couple of weeks ago.  We love the UP, and make a few trips every year.  We tend to frequent the Keweenaw Peninsula area, otherwise known as the Copper Country.  The drive along the shorelines to get there is …

Mountain Biking at Maybury State Park–Northville, Michigan

DSC_0263.jpg

If you like active mountain biking, then check out Maybury State Park’s mountain biking trail.  I wouldn’t call them highly technical trails, but they are tight and keep your attention.  It is 6 miles of single track trail that will give a beginner a great workout and also a great trail for somebody with experience …
